5 Ways to Speed Up WordPress

The causes are usually the usual suspects. Fix them in the order that works.

Start by measuring

Before fixing anything, measure where you stand. Whether the slowness is the server response (TTFB) or heavy content such as images changes the fix completely. Use our Site Health Check for response time and SSL, and the Speed Test for the connection side.

Fix 1: Add caching

WordPress rebuilds each page with PHP and a database on every visit, so it tends to be slow out of the box. Adding page caching (serving static HTML) alone can make responses several times faster.

Fix 2: Lighten images

On many sites, images are more than half of a page's weight. Compress before uploading and resize to the display size, and things improve a lot. Our Image Compressor and Image Resize tools run entirely in your browser — no uploads needed.

Fix 3: Keep PHP and the database new and lean

Fix 4: Tidy up plugins

Plugins are convenient, but every one adds files and processing. Review what is just 'left installed', remove duplicates of the same feature and anything you no longer use, and you will feel the difference.

Fix 5: Reconsider the server itself

If the TTFB (first response) is still slow after every fix, the server is the limit. Moving to an environment with SSD/NVMe storage, enough memory and a data center in Japan is the last resort — and the most reliable speedup.

Summary

The classic order is: measure → cache → images → PHP/plugins → server. MOKLAV hosting runs on Japan servers with fast storage, from ¥500/month with no lock-in. We also take migration consultations.
